Sterilization

Tools are pre-soaked in a detergent

Pre Soak:  This occurs immediately after use. Tools are placed in a pre mixed detergent consisting of a mix water and enzymatic cleanser.  This aids in the breakdown of any biologic matter that may be on the tools. Once this is completed tools are rinsed with warm water.  Porous tools are brushed mechanically to remove debris. All tools are placed than into an ultrasonic cleaner to remove the debris.

Inspection and packaging:
Once the initial cleaning process is completed the tools are placed out and dried and inspected for imperfections. Once this is completed they are placed into autoclavable bags for processing.

Autoclave; Clave 16+: The basic principle of steam sterilization, as accomplished in an autoclave, is to expose each item to direct steam contact at the required temperature and pressure for the specified time. It uses steam under pressure to kill harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores on items that are placed inside a pressure vessel. The items are heated to an appropriate sterilization temperature for a given amount of time thus, there are four parameters of steam sterilization: steam, pressure, temperature, and time.

An autoclave is used to sterilize tools.
